Scatec unveils solar mounting system to fast-track rollout

From the newsletter
Release by Scatec, a subsidiary of Scatec ASA, is rolling out a new solar panel mounting structure designed in South Africa to make clean energy faster and cheaper to deploy. The company has signed lease-to-own deals for 64 MW of solar power and 10 MWh of storage in Liberia and Sierra Leone, its first projects using the new mounting structure.
Traditionally, African power projects have used debt-heavy EPC contracts that took years to complete. Scatec’s leasing model turns energy into an operating expense, helping utilities expand faster and manage costs better.
With nearly half of the continent facing debt distress, this approach offers governments a way to develop large-scale projects quickly and without major upfront costs, a model already common in C&I solar markets.
